Vialog

Vialog vs Shotsy · written by the Vialog side, honestly

Shotsy is built for pens. Vialog is built for vials.

That's the whole comparison, really. If your medication comes in a branded injector pen, Shotsy is a genuinely good tracker — keep it. If you're reconstituting powder with a syringe in your other hand, you need tools Shotsy was never designed to have.

What Shotsy expects in your hand

dial a dose

A pre-filled pen

Fixed strengths, a dial, a click. The math is done at the factory. A tracker's job is the schedule, the sites, the side effects — and Shotsy does that well.

What Vialog expects in your hand

BAC

Powder, water, syringe

You do the math the factory didn't: mg in the vial, mL of water, where to draw. Vialog is built around exactly that moment — and everything after it.

The fair-fight clause

When Shotsy is the right answer

You take one branded pen on a fixed schedule, you want polished iOS widgets and pen-specific dose presets, and you'll never touch a vial of powder. That's Shotsy's home turf, and it's good there. No hard feelings — it's a well-made app.

You should be here instead when the factory didn't do your math: research compounds, reconstitution, multiple protocols, a partner sharing stock, a fridge with real money in it. That's what Vialog is for — and the lifetime option means you can stop renting your dose log.

Switching questions

Before you ask

Can I import my Shotsy data?

Yes. Vialog reads Shotsy's export file directly — your shot history (with pain ratings) and weight log come across, so you don't start from zero. Export from Shotsy, import in Vialog's settings, done.

Is this comparison actually fair?

We wrote it, so read it with that in mind. But every mark above is checkable, we've said plainly where Shotsy is stronger (site rotation, pen presets, iOS polish), and we tell pen users to stay put. If something here goes stale, email us and we'll fix it.

Why is Vialog cheaper?

Self-funded, one person, no growth team to feed. $39.99/year or $99 once covers the servers and the work. That's the whole business model.

Is there an iPhone app?

Not a native one — Vialog installs as a web app from vialog.getforgeworks.com and works in any phone browser, iPhone included. The Android app is on Google Play.
